Invitation to Worship — November 30th
This Sunday, November 30, we begin the journey of Advent—a season of hope, wonder, and quiet courage.
In a world that feels rushed, anxious, and uncertain, Advent invites us to breathe, to slow down, and to remember that God is still at work— gently nudging the world toward peace, healing, and possibility.
Join us this Sunday as we light the first candle and listen for the promise in Isaiah’s dream of peace and Jesus’ call to stay awake to the goodness unfolding around us.
Come for music that lifts the spirit, prayers that steady the heart, laughter and community that remind us we’re not alone, and a message filled with hope for today’s world.
Bring your questions, your worries, your gratitude, your longing— there is room for all of it here. There is room for you here.
Come as you are. Come with expectation. Come and rediscover hope.
You are warmly invited to worship on Sunday, November 30 at 9:00 a.m. We can’t wait to see you. |
Some notes about this week's prelude, "TAIVAS SYLISSANI" from Carol Gallagher
The prelude is a Finnish title. I found the translation online. It's a really interesting and gorgeous tune!
FYI, during the 1964-1965 school year our teen youth group sponsored two foreign exchange students through ICYE (International Christian Youth Exchange.) Jim Stafford spent the year living and going to school in Germany. Birgitta Kauppinen spent the year living with my family and going to school here in Peru. Birgitta now plays piano and organ at her church in Finland. She sent me this music during the summer. I've been waiting for Christmas to play it. The words of the song include these phrases: "Who put the star into the baby's eyes? Who removed the darkness from the shepherd's night? Who put the star into the baby's eyes? The eternal star shines above Bethlehem." |
| Please wear your name tag during worship and coffee hour. |

🕯️ “Advent Evening Devotional: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love” 🕯️ This Advent, we’re gathering online to wait together in the light. Join us on Zoom for a peaceful, candlelit Advent Evening Devotional — a time of Scripture, reflection, prayer, and music centered on the sacred themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. You don’t need to leave home — just light a candle, settle in with a cup of tea, and open your heart to the quiet wonder of the season. Each week we’ll share: - Scripture readings that tell the story of waiting and promise
- Reflections and poetry to stir the spirit
- Questions for quiet contemplation or group conversation
- Prayer and song to center our hearts in Christ’s coming
Come as you are — bring your hopes, your weariness, and your wonder. Together, we’ll light candles across many homes and hearts, remembering that Christ’s light still shines wherever love is needed most.
📅 Date/Time: Mondays in Advent at 6:30 p.m. – December 1, December 8, December 15, and December 22 🕯️ Theme: Hope • Peace • Joy • Love
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." - John 1:5 |

Celebration Wreaths
This Advent and Christmas we are bringing back a favorite tradition with a different spin. "Celebration Wreaths" will allow you to place names of loved ones, in memory or in honor, on tags on the wreaths in the sanctuary. These wreaths will be hung in the windows and on the inside doors on either side of the altar. There are envelopes marked "Celebration Wreaths" in the windows where you can list the names and place your donation. Suggested donation is still $1 per name. The last day to submit names will be Sunday, December 21st. |
